I Need Advice

Why are men's dressy short-sleeve button-up shirts like this one not okay?

The only answer I can come up with is "They're awkward looking" or "They make guys look like missionaries."

I NEED ANSWERS. NOW.

What is a compelling argument for me to give someone about this issue?

AND GO.

(Oh and I got another externship. I CAN FINALLY RELAX. And mother, you can stop freaking out about my not having two externships. MY LIFE IS COMPLETE.)

Umm....these shirts only look right with a pocket protector and suspenders? I'm not the best at arguing.

1)People will think you are deacon your entire life, a fashion challenged 12 year old, or the epitome of dork a missionary.

2)They are what Homer Simpson and Andy Sipowicz(NYPD Blue) wear. Do you really want them to be your fashion role models?

3)There is no such thing as a short sleeved dress shirt. They are sport shirts and should not be worn with a tie, or the top button done up.

4)My mom makes you go home and change if you show up to her house in one.(This is not a joke)

5)Brooks Brothers says so and as far as men's fashion goes, Brooks Brothers is the Lord thy God.

I never wore one. Even on my mission I wore long sleeves, and rolled them up if I had too.

Everything Colt said. My hub wouldn't be caught dead in one, and he is the shiz when it comes to men's high fashion (no he's not gay). To me, a guy wearing a short sleeved "dress shirt" may as well wear a big sign that says his mommy still wipes his bum.

Colt said it perfectly. I hate short sleeve dress shirts. They look so tacky!

I choose not to argue with my husband when he wears one. Hey, at least if he has it on, he's going to church, and that's a plus these days.

I have an extremely compelling arguement. They make the wearer look like the manager of a fast food restaurant. Don't believe me, next time you're in McDonald's or something, check out what the manager is wearing. A short sleeve, button down shirt with a tie and slacks. If a fast food restaurant manager is what you want to look like for the rest of your life, then wear them. If you'd rather be sophisticated and classy, trash them. They're tacky. So says GQ. (And Christa.)

I forgot to say that I think they rank the same as novelty ties on the classy scale. I DETEST novelty ties and whenever I see someone wearing one, I want to ask them how their job at The Olive Garden is going. I think if you're going to dress up, you should dress up and not look like a cartoon.

Ummmm...Dwight Schrute wears one...I mean do you really want to get your fashion inspiration from him?

My husband has never even talked about wearing one...thank heavens.
