I Am a Blog Stalker, and That's Okay

I freely admit it. I love reading blogs. (I'm sure you all could tell this.) I also am the ultimate commentator. I feel the need to comment on everything.

What does this equal? A blog stalker who comments on everything she comes across. Honestly, I hardly come across a blog without commenting on it. To me, that's less creepy than someone who reads and never comments. I'd rather know who's reading than not know, you know? (haha)

However, all people aren't like this. Some are like, "OH MY GOSH! MY BLOG CAN BE READ BY SOMEONE I DON'T KNOW?!?!?!?" Umm, yes. If it's not private, anyone in the whole wide world can find your blog and read it! SHOCKER. I've had a girl come back to my blog and comment, "Ummm do I know you?!?" I was just like, "ummm no? Is that okay?"

I admit, seeing the words "The Boob Nazi" on your blog can be disconcerting. It has TWO taboo words in it! Oh no! BOOBS! She's talking about booooobs. And nazi! How offensive!!! She must be part of the KKK and have blonde hair and blue eyes and hate everyone who isn't a part of the Aryan race! (But really, I do get that seeing that on your blog might make you go, umm wtf is this?)

I once commented on some random lady's blog. She was spending a semester in England and had just gone to Edinburgh for a weekend. Now, if you know anything about me, you know that I LOVE SCOTLAND. I went in June 2006 for 2ish weeks and May/June of 2008 for 3 weeks. One week was with the mother and the other two weeks were by myself. I love that place. So when I saw she'd been to Edinburgh (please pronounce this as Edinburrrra), I said something about it. I don't remember the comment, but it was something about how much I loved Edinburgh and how I wished I could've gone there recently.

She deleted my comment. I happened to go back because I was googling myself one day. (And by myself, I mean "boob nazi.") She deleted it! I know I wrote NOTHING offensive, so it had to be my nom de plume that threw her off. The funny thing is, she hadn't deleted it permanently, so my "name" was still on there. So basically, there was no point to deleting the comment. It was by no means offensive, believe me! I LOVE SCOTLAND. I was jealous of her being able to live in England for however long she was.

Which would you rather? I personally love people to comment (if only ONCE) so I can have a reciprocal relationship with them and comment on their blog as well, especially since I have been SO BORED since coming home. Heck, if strangers comment on my blog, I'll click over, comment, and most likely put them on my sidebar! Don't we all love more people reading our blog? I blog mostly for myself, but I also blog because I think other people would like to read my stories.

I don't know the point of this. But if I stalk you, I will comment. I hope it doesn't make you uncomfortable.

I love to get comments, but only get them from a fraction of a percent of the number of folks who visit each day, which is kind of irritating sometimes. I'm not in seventh grade anymore, but I would, every now and then, like to get a comment from someone who knows me in real life. That said, I have made some of the best friends with strange ladies who made a random comment one day. It's all good.

Comment away, because I love you Boob Nazi!!! =) I love commenting and stalking...I probably weird people out too!

Erin said...

Of course I like getting comments. My problem is that I have so many blogs I read (249 and counting in my Google Reader) that I can't comment on every post every time. So when new people come by, I frequently check out their blog and I certainly appreciate the comment, but I feel bad because I don't have enough time to add everyone to my reader. The guilt crap is ridiculous. Anyway, I generally like to comment to let someone know I read what they wrote and I liked it.

Shauna said...

I love to comment and I also love comments! Yes I agree it is nice to leave a comment even if it is short to let them know you are visiting and keeping up with the posts. Thanks for sharing this! :)

Punk said...

Take note of the commenting.

I am the creepy invisible stalker who reads and then almost comments but usually deletes what she wrote before posting. That confessed, I love comments. I don't know why anyone wouldn't. And let's be honest, your nom de plume is snarky, not offensive.

Finally, I love that you comment. Continue to do so, and I'll do my best not to turn all creepy & invisible on you again.

The Boob Nazi said...

Erin, I totally get what you're talking about. Luckily (or not?), I have no life and can read and type quickly, so writing a comment takes me no longer than a minute or two.
I hope to get a life soon.

And I accidentally scheduled this post a day early!!!! This New Year's thing is throwing me off.

The Stevens Family said...

I love comments! I like to know whose looking at my blog. But I am usually one of those quiet stalkers. And I tend to read blogs of people I kind of know who don't know me and I don't want to creep them out...ya know?

The Boob Nazi said...

Excellent point! I do subscribe to some blogs and not comment. Those are ex hook ups or what not hahaha.

Elsha said...

I'll admit I'm a total stalker. But I'm trying to be better because who doesn't love comments? Plus I wish more stalkers would comment on my blog. I like to know who's reading.

Kristina P. said...

I HATE comments and commenting! Blech! ;)

I too have no life, and I completely agree. Oh, and Natalie, if it make syou feel better, only a small amount of my visitors also comment. That's the norm across the board.

stewbert said...

I love getting comments. I love that you and Kristina regularly comment on my blog. You're just about the only people not related to me who do (I exaggerate. A little).

In fact, I decided to quit "hiding" my profile and blog so I can try and get more traffic to my blogs because I am such a comment junkie. hahaha.

AJ said...

Dear boob nazi.
Thank you for randomly commenting on my blog.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to stop by and leave a little something something on my page.

It affirms my attempts at humor and makes me feel less like a freak for blogging...

I will move you up to my bloggy friend menu if you keep commenting.

Then you will get visits from me all the time! :) hugs!

Lachele said...

I like people commenting on my blog, and I like commenting on peoples blog.

HOWEVER, I had a creepy older man who told me he had been reading my blog and it threw me off.

alishka babushka said...

i love random comments. i think they are awesome. i try to comment, but i'm not the best at it. i'll try to be better. please keep commenting on random blogs. random this makes internet friends and everyone in the world needs more internet friends. :)

Kristine said...

I don't blog often enough to really have a lot of people visiting my blog. Maybe that will change, maybe not.

Anyhow, I only comment when I feel like I have something to say. no fingers of fire here - I type too slow, and think too much about my comment to comment on every blog I read.

Karen said...

I will proudly admit to blog stalking and commenting on people I don't know.

I just found your blog and will enjoy reading. Thanks.

I much prefer people comment..and not just lurk. I am guilty of lurking though. I try not to. Sometimes I don't have anything intelligent to say.

If I commented on all the 300+ blogs in my Google Reader, I'd have NO time to do the things in life worth blogging about! Some bloggers are high maintenance, and base their online self esteem off of a high comment threshold. For me, as long as I have cool people spend time with in real life, the sadness of no blog comments is indeed fleeting.

Brigitte said...

Speaking of.... you commented on my blog and I have no idea who you are and I'm totally offended by your name so ummm i'm gonna delete your comment cuz WTF.... how did you even find my blog?!?!?!

Okay... just kidding. ;)

I love comments and I love finding new blogs and new bloggy imaginary friends! Sadly I read most blogs from google reader on my phone and it's not very friendly for leaving comments. BUT, I always leave comments when I read from my computer.

In case you were wondering....

And I'm wondering.... how DID you come up with that name? Are you obsessed with your boobs er what?

Tiffy J. said...

I love love love love getting comments. it makes my day. However, I am not a common commenter. I'll comment more on your blog though!

The Boob Nazi said...

Oh, I didn't mean these as a "COMMENT MORE" post, I swear. I meant, "COMMENT AT LEAST ONCE SO I CAN KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND READ YOUR BLOG TOO!"

Amander said...

I don't mind when random people comment on my blog - if I did I would make it private! And anyone who does mind should moderate comments or put a a disclaimer or go private.

That being said, I may check out someone's blog who randomly comments on my blog, but I may not follow them. If their blog is isn't that interesting I won't go back :)

The Boob Nazi said...

haha, you're just being honest.
And I try to at least read them every once in a while.

Taralyn said...

I love your blog and I read blogs alot - I read the blogs on friends blogs and then start to follow them and forget how I found them LOL You can comment on my blog anytime!!! I try to comment at least once but some people are really touchy about it!!! Happy New Year!!!

i have been terrible at commenting lately, but i know what you mean totally! i never get freaked out when people comment. unless it is mean and anonymous, then no that pisses me off. haha

I LOVE comments!!! Miss them lately too! Got like 3 on my Christmas Day post...so sad!

KatOfDiamonds said...

Eeeeee! It is a public post that I can comment on!!! Wooohoooo!

So remember when I said you could stop following me on Twitter and we'd still be blog friends because you rock (and I couldn't fit all that in under 140c)???

Well I lied! I need you to follow me so I can DM you my email!!! ;o)

CarrieBradshaw* said...

When I read the first comment you left me I was like, "SWEET NAME!" And immediately came and read your blog. I love that you comment, I love that you read. Sometimes it gets freaky seeing the traffic my blog gets but have no comments. So thank you Boob Nazi, thank you.

Jillybean said...

I like getting comments from anyone who will leave one!!
I like commenting too, but haven't been leaving as many as usual lately because I'm usually reading on the iPod and it's a pain in the butt to type on. (plus, it thinks it knows what I want to type more than I do. It kept changing my name to "Kill" every time I sent an email.

I stalk the blogs of people I know. I don't leave comments because I'm not sure that I want them reading my blog, I mean, what if I wanted to write about them??

The Boob Nazi said...

Excellent point, Jill. Sometimes, I'm a little sad that so many people know I write this blog because I can't write all the stories I'd like to write!

You can comment on my blog any time you want!!!

C.J. said...

Personally, I love getting comments--especially from strangers, because that proves somebody who doesn't, you know, have to reads my blog and finds it interesting. I hardly ever get any on either of my blogs, which discourages me. So, comment away!

Alexandra said...

Why bother blogging if you don't want to meet new people? If you don't want that and have Facebook, you can post notes on it just like a blog. That's what I think.I'm not really good at starting to comment on the blog of someone I don't know (ie., de-lurking myself), but once I've started it's good times all around.
I like hearing what people have to say on my blog, because it's usually pretty interesting. I've gotten spam a couple of other times, but every other time it's pretty good fun when people comment.

Genavee said...

Leaving comments on the blogs I stalk would be one of my new years resolutions, if I didn't already know that making a goal a resolution is the same as pronouncing a death sentence on it. I take so much joy in stalking other blogs that I felt obligated to make a little something for others to stalk, and now that I've learned the joy of random comments, it only seems right to delurk every now and again.

emmakaren said...

The worst is seeing that 55 people visited your blog in one day and you have 0 comments...Creepy much?

Krissa said...

I like the comments...it allows me to click your profile and come back and leave a comment...
So THANKS for the comment!!!
Bring it on...haha!

Moody said...

I wasn't offended at all to see Boob Nazi on my comments, and then when we emailed back and forth it came up as "Boob, Me" on my gmail (because it uses your first name) and it made me chuckle. And yeah, sometimes I read and don't comment cause it can be time consuming, but mostly if I read I comment even if it's just a one time thing. I love reciprocal commenting. It's the best thing about blogging.

Vanessa said...

I hate the comment blogligation (shut up, I made that up) guilt you feel w/comments. I have definitely scaled down who I follow and who I comment on which in turn has decreased my comments. I have come to grips w/it. At first I wanted to be a comment whore, but now, I just blog about what is going on and if someone feels compelled to comment, great. If not, whatev.

Bee and Rose said...

I love reading blogs and commenting too:) I have really missed it lately since I've been dealing with hubster's health issues. The comments I receive have really lifted my spirits this year and I have to say it...I LOVE them! That said, I don't care if someone stops by to read and doesn't leave a comment...I'm completely cool with that too:)

The Boob Nazi said...

I like the word blogligation.... But I totally know what you mean. I hate feeling like I HAVE to leave a comment. Luckily, I'm a crazy person who just loves commenting.
And I had to delete a TON of blogs at the beginning of this year because I was doing terribly in school, but I've started to read more blogs now!

Alexandra said...

I LOVE your comments! lol so stalk my blog as much as you want and comment away :). I'm finally catching up with reading the blogs I like, so you'll probably be getting your fair share of comments from me, too!

Bre Ahrens said...

Blogstalking's the best (hence why I'm stalking you...found you through Karissa's blog, who i know you also stalk). By all means, comment away...people leave themselves (and their blogs) open to comments and/or criticism when they leave their blogs open. (I'd tell you to stalk mine, but to be honest, it's gotten kinda lame....I've turned into one of those bloggers who writes all about how awesome their husband is and how it's going to be even more awesome to have twins...I'm seriously 2 posts away to becoming 'seriously, so blessed.')

samnhal said...

I love Scotland The End. I'm I just a little bit...alright, I am completely jealous that you have been there twice, and for so long! Urgh, I have been dying to go there.

Cortney said...

Haha, I'm the exact same person. I'll rabbit hole google myself through an ever widening web of blogs linked to blogs linked to blogs, and suddenly I'm reading some mommy blogger triathlon post, and she has three kids and is skinnier than me, and all I want to do is comment and say "Damn Gina, way to keep it up!". Then, I realize I have no idea who she is, or how I got there. FWIW, that's how I got to your blog. But upon reading your blog stalker confession, I thought it only appropriate to leave a random comment on the blog post about leaving random comments :)

Morgan Familia said...

I just found your blog through my SIL (samnhal) and think you are hilarious! I had to read through all of your "crazy neighbor" posts because I just left an apartment where my crazy neighbor lived through our master bedroom wall! Awkward!!! Anyways, I'm gonna stalk you now :)

Rach said...

I love that you do this too!!
I always stalk blogs. Like, constantly. It's probably an addiction or something.
And I'm always tempted to leave comments, but then I don't want to seem creepy. So I don't comment, thus making myself even MORE creepy, hahaha :P

You're hysterical. I should be doing homework before my class that starts in 15 minutes...but I'm stuck on your blog. Hahaha :]

Julie said...

It wasn't too long ago that I got into blogging myself. I love finding new blogs, and happen to wander across yours. It's great!! I'm a bit of a blog stalker myself now though--oops ;)

Donna said...

So I have seen your comments on other blogs and keep saying to myself, "who is that hilarious boob nazi?" I finally made it over here and have totally enjoyed wandering around and making myself comfy. Thanks!

And here's something about myself: I'm a proud padded-push-up-bra-wearing (nearly) A-cup. TMI?

Kristine said...

Donna, as her cousin, you would think that I would share her trademark physical trait. My sisters do, but I am much closer to wearing an A-cup push-up (actually, I think I have some).

Yep, I'm with you. I love comments and don't get too many. Feel free to visit me and comment on my everything. I like to think my musings are at least mildly entertaining. SkippyMom said...

If you can stay awake long enough through one of my lame a** posts you are more than welcome to comment.

I would laugh like heck if I had Boob Nazi in my mix of commentators. I love when I get comments but they are usually from a group of people I have on my blogroll.

The thing is I write my blog for me and my family - the fact I even get comments? Bonus.

I so agree. Blog stalking is practically a hobby. I'm also a bit afraid that people will freak if I follow their blogs - but you're right; if people blog they have to expect strangers finding them.
I wish comments could change into chocolate chip cookies.

Katrina said...

Lol - I love comments and commenting too! I happened to your blog because I saw your "name" on another blog and was interested. LOL, maybe that makes me a bit of a blog stalker too!

WTF do they think the Internet is? Everyone can read it. I personally am addicted to comments AND commenting. Like there are days where I do nothing but find blogs and comment on them, then creepily go into their archives and comment some more. What's wrong with that? It's just validation that people are reading what you wrote. Go on, girl!

I guess I should comment now, seeing as how I'm stalking your blog. Well, not really stalking, since this is the first time I've been here, but I've come across your name in comments on various other blogs and curiosity finally got the better of me. Boob Nazi? Yeah, I had to check it out. I'll admit, I generally don't comment if I'm just passing through, but it always irks me when people pass through my blog without commenting. I love the random comments. I get all excited: "Hey, someone's reading my blog!" Maybe I should start leaving more comments, and then I can do a post like this one. Heyyyyy...

So, yeah, I'm reading your blog. You're funny. I'm totally wasting time, but thanks for the entertainment!

I've seen that name "boob nazi" on a couple of blogs now. You and I run in the same blog circles it seems. It spiked my curiosity this time. After reading I will admit I find it hard to believe people are concerned with random comments. Like you, I blog mostly for me. Occasionally others read it. When the first person I didn't know commented on my blog I called my mother to tell her the good news. I even respond by saying "how the heck did you find me?" I'm just so darn excited. But now, riddle me this, if you are so enthused with comments and reading other blogs and commenting on theirs, how come the disdain for people linking their blogs in comments? Wouldn't that just be a friendly way to say, "hey, maybe you'd like what I have to say! stop on by." Just a thought.

Melonie said...

I've seen your moniker on Cake Wrecks pretty frequently and decided to come read your blog. Good stuff. And I'm with you on the comments thing. I very rarely get comments on my blog, even though I have people who come all the time. Are they people I know? Are they random people looking things up on the interwebz? Whatever. But if you do stop by, say hi!
