I Watched the Scariest Movie Ever Made Last Weekend

You may disagree about the scariest movie ever made. You may think an actual scary movie is the scariest movie ever made. I disagree. A scary movie involves all your senses. It makes you think what's happening in the movie is happening in your real life. It makes you cover your eyes with your hands while peeking through your fingers.

What movie am I talking about???

ARACHNOPHOBIA. I am sorry, but that movie is SO SCARY. I watched it on Friday. I ended up running from the room with my hands over my eyes screaming, "I CAN'T WATCH THIS ANYMORE! I CAN'T WATCH THIS ANYMORE!!!" I was lucky my parents weren't in the house.

Let's talk about why this movie is so effing scary.

Spiders. Does anybody like spiders? Isn't everyone completely terrified of the idea of spiders that can kill you in 5 seconds? aoh dfiuha kjh jkhf Just typing it here makes me shiver with disgust. While the spiders were walking all over the screen, I felt tickles on my legs. I swear there were spiders on me.

They have spiders coming near people during their most vulnerable moments. When I'm sitting on the effing toilet, I do not want to think about a spider in the toilet bowl! oiah sodjf asjlf

After I saw this movie for the first time, I smoothed my covers every night before getting under them. Why? So I could squish spiders under there. This is one of the reasons I don't want scary movies. I also used to jump onto my bed so the monsters from Little Monsters wouldn't grab me and drag me under the bed. Again, why I don't watch scary movies anymore.

Is there a movie that traumatized you as much as these TWO movies traumatized me as a child? I will NOT watch it, and I will never subject my children to it haha. Let's commiserate together.

Yes.

I saw Arachnophobia when I was somewhere around the age of twelve. TWELVE. I have been absolutely terrified of spiders since. It doesn't matter how many times my husband mocks me and informs me that it's a comedy, the fact remains that a perfectly harmless spider was rendered DEADLY and now there is no little creepy disgusting spider you can trust to not EAT YOUR FACE.

I loved Little Monsters. But, I'm with you about scary movies. Forget it. I made the supreme mistake of watching The Blair Witch Project three days before my wedding. Yah huh. Didn't sleep that night. Still don't like to be in the woods at night.

I can't watch that movie because of the spiders... yuckkkkkkkkkk yuck yuck yuck!! :(

Also, I haven't seen Little Monsters in years, but I do remember it scaring me. Eeeep!

That movie scared the CRAP out of me, but I've always liked being scared. Oompa-loompas? HORRIFYING, so naturally I LOVED Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

I do believe Arachnophobia scarred me for life. To this day, when I get in the shower, or sit on the pot, I picture a spider biting me arse, or slowly descending from it's web to bite me.

i didn't watch arachnophobia. because, hello? spiders? already scared of them. don't NEED to watch a movie about being scared of them, tyvm.

For some reason my parents let Annie watch it with us all those years ago. She was THREE!!! Yeah, so naturally the scariest thing we could threaten her with for years and years was to be put in a corner with spiders in it. She would freak out every time. Oh, and my mom screamed about a dozen times during the intro scenes of that movie. Mom, dad, why did we watch that movie?

I don't watch scary movies. I couldn't sleep weeks after the sixth sense. *rolls eyes at self*
But I did watch arachnaphobia when I was about 5 or so. WHY was I allowed to??

I cannot watch ANYTHING that has a hint of suspense in it. Therefore, scary movies are out. The Sixth Sense and The Butterfly Effect almost killed me, although The Blair Witch Project seemed to be more of a comedy than anything else.

Srsly - I HATE this movie. I watched it at a sleepover when I was a youngling. Gave me nightmares for weeks. And I totally hate spiders too. And, I hate The Sixth Sense. I was literally curled up fetus-style with my fingers in my ears singing "I am a Child of God" in the movie theater when I watched that movie. There are more details to that story, but let that suffice for now.

I saw BIRDS at my friends house when I was about 10/11 and I don't think I saw another horror movie since then.

I don't allow my kids watch movies like that. My now 13 year old saw Jurrasic Park when he was 6 at his uncle's house and was traumatized for weeks. I am pretty sure that he's over it and watches horror movies behind my back, but I don't wanna know that, lol.

Adam hates spiders. He basically becomes like a little girl. I just stand back and laugh at him.

Remember "Jaws"? After watching that one, I couldn't get to sleep. I kept thinking the shark was going to come in thru the third story window of my apartment!! Rosemary

This is completely unrelated, but I just clicked over here from another blog and the reason? Completely because of your little picture thingy with your name (is that what an avatar is? no idea). I love the "dont hate me..." I can relate to your "issue" ha! Anyways, loving your blog! I am now a follower :)

And that is exactly why I've never seen that movie. I know it would totally freak me out.

I was completely traumatized by "Silence of the Lambs." I didn't watch it until I was about 21. That's still the scariest movie I've ever seen; I had nightmares for weeks after I saw it, most of them involving Hannibal Lecter trying to eat me or my mom.

I have an intense fear of spiders and I could barely sit through that movie too. The scene where the spiders are scrambling out of the shower drain brought me nightmares for months.

The one movie that thoroughly traumatized me as a child was Friday the 13th. My dad took me and my sister to see it the week before we left for sleepaway camp for the first time. And then he was all, "Oh yeah, make sure you get the top bunk when you're all picking your beds".

Scariest Movie Ever.

I was so horrified by Buffy the Vampire slayer (yes) that I could not finish it. It still creeps me out that there might be undead people floating outside my window wanting to get in. I was more scared of books though. I read Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca and was so creeped out I had to hide the book and eventually I gave it to goodwill.

Ooh, I can't watch that movie. I seriously would not close my eyes in the shower for at least a month after that movie came out. Yeesh!

I watched it the first time at home when it first came out on video. I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye and looked over.

A spider was crawling down the back of the couch toward me.

Yeah, I jumped about 15 feet to the other side of the room.

True story.

I don't watch scary movies either.

AGREED! That movie - UGH! It massively heightened my already ridiculous fear of spiders. Awful.

I remember screaming like mad when I saw that movie at the ripe age of 12-ish. My husband and I watched it with our 14 and 11 year olds a few months ago. They freaked out like crazy, and we laughed hysterically. I couldn't believe it scared me like that. Well, yes I can. It is scary. But it was totally funny and ridiculous watching it as an adult.

Oh man! I can't watch that movie anymore. I still have issues with thinking a spider will come through the shower head and attack me. Ugh. Shivers.

I couldn't even read the rest of your post today, for my total dislike of spiders! It's not that I'm afraid of all of them. But I just hate the way they look! Especially the really fast ones.

So. Yeah. I'll be back again tomorrow.

That movie completely freaked me out too! Blech! We have nasty spiders in AZ and I just try to pretend they don't exist so I can survive!

Scary movie....The Exorcist...HATED that movie!

Ok, I am *never* going to watch that movie! I am horrified of spiders! It sounds like torture to watch a movie about them!

You are so brave! I have only seen clips of this movie and those have traumatized me. I am scared to kill big spiders in fear that their baby spiders will get me.

Horribly funny story. I cut the crap out of my head as a kid checking for spiders under the toilet. I had a TON of blood coming from my head and everything! All over those 8 legged awful things!

Erin said...

I haven't seen either one of those in years---my hubs is terrified of spiders, so those are my job.

I saw Paranormal Activity last fall which scared the crap outta me. Did you see it? The sequel is coming out this fall and the previews alone make me cover my eyes!

Crystal said...

Freaks me out too.

I hate, hate, HATE when they show the close up of the big queen spider at the end and it's all hairy and gross. Blech! Just talking about it making me woozy.

Nikki said...

Bwahahaha! I would jump onto my bed as well after watching Little Monsters! lol

Arachnophobia STILL freaks me out if I think about it. I LOATHE spiders. And, ick, I'm getting icky shivers just remember scenes from it-- and that was like 18 years ago!

Nikki said...

Oh yeah, but the scariest of all time for me was Watcher in the Woods.

Ha ha. This movie has a special place in my heart. I'll never forget. It was the summer I turned 14...blah, blah, blah...slept over at my cousins..blah..blah...had a crush on my cousin's best friend who was also sleeping over.
Long story short...half way through the movie, I thought the cute boy was making a move on me, but really, he was trying to put one of those plastic spider rings on my leg.

Stupid boy.

This movie terrifies me, yet I watch it!! I am terrified of spiders, like I will AUDIBLY SCREAM upon seeing ONE, anywhere near me! I see one and I get that feeling that they are ALL over me, yet I get cajoled into watching that movie every few years or so.
I like horror movies, it is ones like Thirst, that can really happen, trapped in the dessert, running out of water, that panic me, So what did I do? I watched it holding a 1.5L Fiji water!!

Amander said...

I have to say I don't think it's that scary. I'm much more scared by the psychological suspense type movies. LOVE those.

pook555 said...

No, I will never watch this movie (especially after your description LOL). I remember when it came out and I'm glad I've never seen it. Anything about spiders is pretty traumatizing!! I like the psychological suspense movies too like the poster above (no gorey ones) - and definitely no spiders!!

The Grudge. Eeks! And I watched it when I was 21 for grief's sake. When my husband and I first got together we deeply discussed how much that movie freaked us. I had hair like hers at the time - I would pull it forward into my face, do that weird "clickety noise" she made, and stare at him when we were in bed. So romantic we are.

PS - haven't seen a scary movie since the Grudge. So what's that, 5-6 years maybe?

After I saw "What Lies Beneath" in high school, I couldn't go alone into the bathroom. So, I made my mom come in with me while I peed, I was soo scared! Also, after watching "The Shining" for the first time 2 Halloweens ago, I was so freaked out, I didn't want to watch it alone. Now, every once in a while, Tyler will turn out the lights, get this ridiculous freaky look on his face, and yell Red Rum!! Its so mean and scary!!!
